Another Call For Cards!!

Good Evening My Wonderful Blogland Friends!!

My friend, and follower Nancy, left a link when she posted a comment today.  I went to the address and found another need for cards!  The blog is called Send A Smile 4 Kids Challenge Blog and sends cards to Childrens Hospitals for patients, staff and others.  There are challenges there as well and wow!  Some of the cards for kids are incredible!
******  Please check the 'Guidlines for Donated Cards' Tab at the top for what type of cards are needed before sending yours off for the kids! ******

There is a post on the blog about Debby, one of the Design Team.  She was in an accident and had head trauma.  Here is her story and address........

About a month ago, one of our SAS4Kids team members, Debby Walker, was in an accident and sustained severe head trauma. After she came out of her coma she has had amnesia. She is slowly remembering things including how much she loves stamping and being on her design teams. She is having motor skill issues as well and has started physical therapy.

Let’s shower her with thoughts and prayers and cards and let her know all of us are wishing her well. Here is her address:

Debby Walker

1805 Brownstone Blvd #301

Toledo OH 43614

I know stampers and crafters are giving and loving people and I hope you can take the time to send up some positive thoughts and then send Debby a card- just say you are an on line friend from Send a Smile 4 Kids.

Stamping smiles for Debby, Karen

Here is a Canadian twist!!  As you will see at the top of my blog, there is a Send A Smile 4 Kids here in the north as well.  It sounds like they send cards to Vancouvers Childrens Hospital but who knows what could happen!  There are 6 followers now, including me, and I am challenging my followers to check this blog out and see about helping as well!  We all have kids, and some of us grandchildren so... How about it!!

It is late and I must get my beauty sleep....I sure do need one today... so I will catch you all tomorrow!

Bless you all... You have no idea how much your cards affected Ethyl!

Great Big Hugs...

Sheree

Another Vellum Card...

This card looks totally different in real life!!  It's either my photographic skills (none), or the lighting in the dining room, or vellum just doesn't photograph well with a darker colour underneath!  If you can believe it.. the cardstock is actually the most beautiful coral colour!  The Big and Juicy Ink is embossed with clear powder and actually starts with the most beautiful yellow fading to light orange and then to pinks.  The vellum gives a sort of frosted look layered over the coral.  If only you could see it!

Oh well... Here's the recipe!

Stamps:  I'm having a blonde moment and will have to find the storage wrapper!  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!
Inks: Big and Juicy Ink Pad - Soothing Sunset, Archival Black, Distress Orange Marmalade for edges
Paper:  Unknown and Recollections Vellum
Sewing:  I'll blame the seven dwarfs for this mess!
Clear embossing powder

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Sheree

A Little Bit Of Magic!

Good Morning Everyone!

The weather has turned into Winter here on the North Island.  Yesterday it wasn't raining cats and dogs.. It was raining pigs and elephants!  We had high winds that shut down the ferry at times and are like the ones that usually start up at the end of October, just before Halloween.  Getting out of bed and going to work has been a dreaded chore this week!

I came up with this card after seeing a challenge at The Outlawz for the Sunday CAS card.  Not too sure if this is CAS enough but it's worth a shot!

The butterfly and flowers are stickers that I picked up at Crafty Capers in Nanaimo two weeks ago.  The challenge was no stamps except for the sentiment!  Perfect!  I coloured the butterfly first only to realize I didn't have papers to coordinate so pulled out the Vellum and embossed with the CB.  The embossing turned out neat but didn't stand out so lightly applied Distress Inks to make it come to life.  The end result was exactly what I wanted!

Super easy card and although I'm not great at cards that aren't Stampscapes, I like this one.  Here is a close up view of the embossing and stickers...

Here's the recipe!

Stamps - Sentiment - Stampin' Up!
Inks - Distress Orange Marmalade and Distress Tumbled Glass
Papers - Staples 110 lb., Recollections for Vellum and Yellow
Stickers
Copics
Ribbon - Unknown from my stash
Pop Dots
Spellbinders

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Stampscapes - Autumn Sunset

Good Afternoon!
What a fun day today.  I skipped from work (I'm the boss) and stayed home to do more painting on the house before the rain and wind sets in tonight.  So... while I cook dinner I thought I'd post this card that I made two days ago for one of my clients.
Jerry came up to Campbell River last Friday to attend a funeral and near the end of the funeral his sister had to rush him to the hospital because he couldn't move his left arm.  Turns out he had a stroke due to bleeding on the brain.  To make a long story short, I thought we were going to lose him but... my Korean Veteran started coming around!  He is still paralized on his left side but we are hoping that when the pressure on the brain slowly goes away he will regain use of his left appendages.  I'm thinking positive!
I put this card together because Jerry was a commercial fisherman after the war and he would go fishing today but his body is slowing down which makes it hard to launch a boat.  He just LOVES fishing!
There are two sentiments on the inside of the card.  One is 'Get Well Soon' from Stampin' Up! and the other is one from Stampscapes.  I embossed all images with clear embossing powder, doing each one as it was stamped.  The background was brayered with a 'Big and Juicy' pad and then Raspberry at the top to intensify the colour a wee bit more.  Only one print was used for background paper.  I was inspired by the colours in the maple leaves which  don't really show well.
Here is the recipe!
Stamps - Stampscapes & Stampin' Up!
302A - Gulls
266D - Tree cluster
195G - Pines and Rocks
048E - Lakeside Cove
166A - Rowboat

Archival black ink, Big and Juicy, Adirondack Raspberry Dye Ink

Paper - Glossy, Bazzil, Staples 110 lb. white, Indian Summer - Aspen - Basic Grey

Rubber brayer
White pen for highlights
Marth Stewart photo corner punch

Thanks for looking and may you have the most wonderful week!

Hugs,
Sheree

Fall Is On It's Way!

Morning Everyone!
Another idea popped into my head last night so quickly put this together and I like how it turned out!
First I stamped  the leaves with VersaMark and embossed with Crafty Capers Copper Tinsel.  Veins were coloured lightly with Copics.
Now I'm off to The Outlawz to enter my card in the Saturday challenge!
Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Flourishes - Masculine Card

Hey there Chickees!
Yep... I'm back for a wee bit.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks at work and at home.  Painting the exterior of the house is taking a little longer than usual.

I'll post more later... had a 6.8 earthquake north of us and aftershocks are supposed to happen.  We only felt a little bit here but must head home to check my puppies cuz they are probably scared..

Talk to you soon!!

Hugs,
Sheree

Back in business.  The earthquake wasn't that bad but I have a dog that sees ghosts and flies freak him out.  Max needed a big hug when I got home haha!

Back to the card I posted!  The image is from Flourishes - What a Catch! set.  I found this set two weeks ago and have been playing around with different colour combinations.  This one ... I like!

There's a fish hook tied to the sisal twine but it moved while I took the picture so the hook end is hard to see.  It's there though!!

The recipe is as follows:
Stamps - Flourishes, Studio G
Ink - Memento Black, Distress - Burlap
Paper - Staples, Recollections, Stampin' Up!
Ribbon - Looks like fishnet but is actually 2 1/2 inch woven that I stretched out of shape.  This one is dark green and gold woven in
Colouring - Copics
CuttleBug - Woodgrain folder
Embossing powder - Crafty Capers glittery copper
Spellbinders Diamond Dies
Pop dots

There you have it!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Sheree
