Vintage To End The Year

Evening Girlz!!

Here is my try at something vintage this week.  It is okay, but not great...definitely a learning curve!

The image is a crop from a free vintage photo on the net.  I used Distress Vintage Photo on it along with my fave ink.. Distress Wild Honey.  Once I distressed the photo I ran a Versamark pad over it and then dumped on the clear embossing powder to shine it up!

The tag itself was done by using Vintage Photo Distress ink randomly over the tag.  I then added Distress Wild Honey and once that was done I crumpled the tag up in my hand,   then spread it back out on my play surface.  Then, I inked up the applicator with Distress Gathered Twigs.  I find that this ink is on the blacker end of the brown spectrum and almost gives a burnt look to the edges.  This ink was also added to the wrinkles on the tag to deepen the colour.

The lace on the the tag came looking vintage enough so I only put Distress Vintage Photo on the edges of the ribbon.

I stamped the new Hero Arts background stamp called Tiny Ink Spots in VersaMark and then Copper Tinsel embossing powder.  It looks really neat in real life but the colours in the photograph just arent the right shades.  They should be a bit more on the warm yellow side.

The recipe is...

Dylusions stamps by Ranger - Sentiment
Hero Arts 2013 - Background Tiny Ink Spots
Inks - VersaMark, Versa-Fine
Distress Inks - Wild Honey, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs
Ranger Clear Embossing Powder
Ribbon - Unknown
Flowers - Unknown

There you go!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful New Year!!

Stampscapes Gift Tag

Hi Girlz!

I needed some pretty tags to go with the large Christmas arrangements I made up.  Yes I will post a pic of them in the near future.

I used one stamp... Stampscapes Pine.   The pine was stamped with VersaMark and then I used Ranger, Super Fine Detail embossing powder.  Once the embossing was done I added the moon.  The tag on the left had a small post it circle added right after embossing.  The tag on the right added after I put a very light spritz of ??? Memories gold.  Sorry.. Am having a moment!!

To finish these off I then added more gold spray.  They look so much prettier IRL.  Too bad you cant see the shimmer!

Lastly I framed the trees with a high gloss gold paper and that was then popped up onto a double layer of white cardstock with the top piece embossed.

The snowflake was from a package of 20 from the Seasonal section in WalMart.

Ta daa!!  Super easy to make a lot.  I must try doing it in different colours!

Have a wonderful Christmas!!

Distressed Masculine Birthday Card

I did this quickly for my sons birthday last weekend.  I was so engrossed with getting everything ready for he dinner that I forgot the card..oops!  So, I pulled out the Tim Holtz Gears die and cut them out on grey Stampin Up! cardstock.  The gears were distressed with Walnut, Gathered Twigs and Black Soot.  I swiped my VersaMark pad over the gears and piled on the clear embossing powder.  The last thing was to sprinkle some Zing black embossing powder heavy in some spots and then heavy in others.  Here are a couple of close ups so you can see what I have done...

I think the gears turned out pretty neat!
You can see how I popped the smaller one up along with the one below.

The background is a Cuttle Bug folder and a dull silver paper.  After I embossed it I dabbed a bit of black VersaFine ink onto a paper towel and lightly went over th embossing to make it look  bit aged...like a worn toolbox!  I find that this ink dries a bit quicker if you want to do something else with the paper.

There you go!

Thanks for looking!  I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Holiday!

Distressed Cricut Tags

Evening Chicks!

When I use the Memory Box dies and others to do different projects, some of my wonderful friends dont have the dies but like to use the Cricut.  Soooo.. I pulled out the Christmas Cheer cart and found kewl images that resemble Tim Holtz ones.   Ooops, the fence is a die cut but the trees aren't!  I will post another one using the snowman from the same cart in a day or two.

My tags are nowhere near the super kewl level that Tim's are but, I am trying!  It is hard to tell but the trees are embossed with the CBug and lots of clear embossing powder dumped on after!

The recipe is:

Tags - From our shop
Trees - Cricut Christmas Cheer cart
Snowflakes - WalMart pack of 20 for super cheap!
Fence - Memory Box die
Ribbon - Not sure - My stash
Distress Inks - Gathered Twigs, Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, Evergreen Bough, Forest Moss
Perfect Pearls Spray - Copper
Ribbon - Stash
Embossing Powder - Clear...Lots of it!

Thanks for looking!

Love Memory Box Dies!

Evening Girlz!

I bought another Memory Box die from Craft Capers in Nanaimo a couple of weeks ago.  An idea popped into my head tonight and I went with it!  This is the outcome...

I started by using the die to cut the door out twice.  Once in Red and another in cream.  Its hard to tell by the photo that the house trim is cream and the siding is a glittery brown.  Anyway, I cut the cream door out of the trim and added the cut out red door instead.  The siding was done with my scor board and the just a touch of brown Distress ink to make the scor lines show a bit better.

The wreath was made using the MS pine punch, the door knob is a brad and the snow is done with this new tube of stuff called Snow Writer from Decoart.  It dries nice and bright white!

There isn't a real recipe for this one... trial and error!  Have fun with it!

Baby On The Way!

I'm back again!  Terry's  oldest son and his wife are expecting their first child in January.  Yes, its a girl!

One thing I have been busy with is doing a baby quilt that can hang on the wall in the nursery.  Here is the finished product...

I am trying to get a copy of a photo that really shows the beautiful pinks and mint greens.  I made the shower cards to go with all of the gifts from the C.River gang.  They are...

This card was done using my Cricut.  It wasn't a card pattern and I had to do many layers to make it turn out and stand up!

I cut many of the pieces for this one using the Cricut as well. I CASEd a card I saw on Pinterest (I love Pinterest!)  and it originated from the Just Rite stamp site.  I changed it up a wee bit.

I used left over pieces of paper to do this one and stitched them together.  The block letters are from the Cricut as well.

Thats it for tonight... naaaa.. I will do one more!  See you on the flip side!

Autumn Is My Favourite!

I designed this card a little bit ago and liked it so much that I couldn't give it away haha!  I used Distress Inks for the background and then stamped the leaves and added Perfect Pearls.  It is hard to see but the layer is actually a high gloss gold cardstock I bought at Crafty Capers in Nanaimo.  Victoria is such an enabler!

This is a quick but very rich looking (in real life) card.  And yes, I made more so that I couldn't keep my favourite one!

Distress Christmas Tags

Evening Chicks!

I see that Blogger is letting me post again!  Woo Hoo!  Thank you to all of my friends who checked in to see if I was still alive and prayers that I get better.  I didnt, and never will get better but the larger dose of daily drugs is making it a bit more bearable.

Okay... now to the tags!

I purchased the Tim Holtz pointsettia die last week and pulled it out the other night after my brain was wanting to do some experimenting.  The pieces were punched out of cream cardstock and everything was gone over with Distress inks.  I have the recipe below.

Here is a closer view of the leaves...

Here is the recipe!

Tim Holtz Dies - Flourish and Pointsettia
Background stamp - Hero Arts Christmas music (Also used on the leaves)
Inks - Distress Iced Spruce, Festive Berries, Fired Brick, Evergreen Bough, Honey, Gathered Twigs
Liquid Pearls - Ruby Red, Buttercup
Embossing Powders - Ranger Clear and Silver
Ribbon
Snowflake - WalMart - $2.99 pack of 20 in the ornament section

Where Has The Time Gone?

Howdy Chicks!

Where has the time gone?

I have been creating cards but not on a daily basis like before.  Why didnt I post them?  Well... while I was hurting and resting, Blogger went and changed the format.  I have a bunch of new posts just sitting as drafts because I couldnt figure out how to post them while having a headache!

Sooooo... Once again, this is a test and if it works I will post the Christmas tags I made the other night and I am darned proud of them!

See you soon1

Out Of Commission For A Bit

Morning Chicks!

Just a quick note to let you know that I won't be making cards for a week or two.  I have arthritis and over the past two weeks my wrists and ankles have gotten to the point that I can barely use them.  I am just waiting to see if this will be a quickie thing or whether this will be long term before heading back to the doc to be checked out.

Stamping and colouring is really hard to do right now.  I will, however, be visiting blogs in the evenings.  If I am able to type I will leave a comment!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter Weekend and work week ahead.

Mother's Day - Hero Arts

Good Morning Chicks!

Just a quick post this morning.

I've seen a few challenges out there for either Mother's Day, Spring or Pastels.  This, is my entry for all of them!

The main image stamp is from Hero Arts #S5033 Silhouette.  I stamped it in Versa Color Old Rose and embossed it with Hero Arts clear embossing powder.  The sentiment stamp is from Stampin' Up! and it is embossed as well.

I can't remember where the paper is from... my stash!  I made the bow with ribbon from WalMart and the butterfly is from a sticker package called Bride's Own from WalMart as well.

Hope you all have a wonderful work week!

Craft A Scene - Silhouettes

Good Morning Chicks!

Well, it's the first Sunday in April and that means that it's a new challenge over at Craft A Scene!

The Design Team were given digi kits consisting of images from Caroline's Creative Stamps to come up with a silhouette card!  The card above is my creation and I'm really happy with it!  That fairy, along with the others in the digi package are so adorable!!  I love the fiery orange/yellow background and how you can do so much with all the digital elements!

Caroline has been designing stamps for over twenty years and has a wide range of designs.  These digital elements are sooo kewl to work with and I'm planning on heading back to pick up another couple of sets soon.  I couldn't believe how many individual pieces were included.  Loads of backgrounds and then a large assortment of different elements that you can layer to create an endless number of cards, scrapbooking pages or whatever you like!  This fairy set I chose will be fabulous for cards for BC Children's Hospital!

Now... How did I get the design I did?  I'm a real newbie when it comes to digital.  Caroline suggested that I download the CraftArtist Compact  program.  This is a neat free program that you can upgrade so it will do so much more.  For me... the Compact is just fine for now.

I started up the program and proceeded to try and figure it out.  There are many tutorial videos on the site but my speakers don't work because my 'Stamp Eater' thought they tasted great when she was a puppy.  This left me only one way to get'er done!  Yep.. fumbling along  on my own doing the trial and error thing.  After playing around for a couple of hours and a whole lot of frustration.... I thought I would try the copy and paste function that every computer has.  What a surprise!!  It worked!  Brilliant!!

Finally I was able to start applying the layers.  First problem... I didn't know how to undo what I had done so the first night I ended up with a card with everything in an oval pattern to fit the card size.  Actually...it looked kind of neat.  But, not at all what I was striving for!  Oh well... I printed off what I had done and found that only one or two of the colour cartridges on my computer were good so the whole thing printed in purple.  And once again.. it kind of looked neat!...But not the look I was after!  haha!  I did save it on the computer but the file is somewhere in the 'Abys'.  When I stumble upon it I will add the image here.

Life got in the way for a few days so I came home from work today and opened up the program and had my first design done within a matter of minutes!  Yay!  I'm not the dense turnip I thought I was and things are still able to stick in my brain!  This is going to be so easy now!  Woo Hoo!  Many would differ and state that I did fall off the turnip truck years ago.....

I will be adding the files I got from Caroline to different projects in hopes of creating something beautiful.  What I can hardly wait to try is using her background papers, circular paper images and others with Stampscapes stamps.  Hmmm... may be on to something here!

Well, I had better get crackin'!!  There's so much to do around the house on my only day off!  If you're still with me and want to hear about my funny and embarrassing day the other day... keep reading!

Have a wonderful work week!
Hugs,
Sheree

p.s.  Sometimes I wonder if I have size 15 feet and a size 20 mouth!!  Or visa versa!

I went out to do the banking for the store on Wednesday which was fine.

Before I tell you what happened next you need to know that fuel, or petrol, or gasoline, goes bad after 30 days.  The smell can be kind of 'off'.  When fuel is a LOT older than that... it smells horrid, rank, disgusting or putrid.. pick your adjective. We sell and repair machines that use fuel!

When I walked in the front door of the store I didn't bother to look around first and just blurted out... I smell bad gas!  As I looked up I noticed that right in front of me was a big burly logger bent over the parts counter going over his chainsaw with my daughter Erica.

Awesome!!  The customer turns around and looks at me... I start to laugh hysterically with my face turning red and kept moving into the parts room.  Gawd!!  How could I be so dense??!!  Note to self.. look up before talking!!

It turns out that he has been in our shop before.  Whew!!  He has a dry sense of humour and with a plain face started giving me a bad time.  Great!  I'm okay.... but not for long!

He wasn't sure about what size bar to buy for his chainsaw so Erica grabbed a few from the wall and brought them over.  I was right by the saw so picked up one that was close to the size he was looking for.  Now it gets good....

As I held the bar up beside his smaller bar that was already on the saw... I fudged it into place and said.. .. Lord Have Mercy On ME...  There's your nuts...I've got your nuts.  I meant the bar nuts that hold the bars on to the chainsaw!  Erica started to laugh and then I realized what I had said.  Now I couldn't stop laughing and our customer didn't laugh and started making more comments to me before he cracked up too.  Oh my... I'm sure the guys will have a good chuckle over me in camp!

Thank goodness I'm getting older!!!  Not that my mouth and shoe size will decrease but that I'm approaching the age where I can get away with a whole lot more!  Whew!!  That along with senior's discount on Tuesdays... I'll have it made soon!

Spot The Goofs!

Good Morning Chicks!
Just a quickie post this morning.  It's gorgeous outside today and I'm hearing the call of the wild.... my wild overgrown winter gardens!
The problem... I have mounted everything permanently and after checking the challenge requirements I now see that there was a twist that consists of adding lace!  Oooops!  Along with that, I have two boo-boo's on this one and you must find them.  The winner will get a long distance hug.  Yes, I know.... the prize is what's going to drive you to find them!  haha!
Well... I must change into my grubby clothes and attack some weeds.  Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!
Hugs,
Sheree

Craft A Scene - March - Moonlight

Good Morning Chicks!

My mojo is slowly coming back and I finally had the mindset to work on another Stampscapes scene for the Craft A Scene Blog Challenge for March which is moonlight.

This scene was very easy to accomplish.  I started with four Stampscape stamps (listed below) and then decided to do a monochromatic scene.  It turned out pretty kewl ... I think!  Also, I used a 5X7 size for the card.

To colour the scene I started with a Tim Holtz blending tool with the foam.  Using Memento London Fog I started colouring lightly from the edge moving inward.  It probably took abour five passes around the whole card to get the look I wanted.  Then, using Distress Ink called Black Soot I used the blending tool and once again worked the ink lightly from the outside edge inward until it was dark enough.

I decided that the scene needed a tiny bit of something to add interest so picked up my Colorbox Stylus that had Adirondack Lemonade on the foam pad and without reinking it I tapped a bit of colour into the moon.  Here is a closer look at the photo so you can see what I've done!

Once I mounted the scene it was easy to see that it would look great mounted black on white.  A little bit of scoring around the outside edge and it was done!  After I finished the card I was thinking that a funny sentiment for the inside, that would go with the outside would be... Congratulations on your children moving out!  haha!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Sheree

Mom's Day Card....A Wee Bit Early!

Good Afternoon Chicks!

I thought I would try something a wee bit different than my usual!  I was looking around at challenges and came up with this that can be entered in them.
The base card was cut with the Cricut, Wild Card cartridge at 5 1/2 inches using the Doily cut.  The green patterned paper was cut with the Cricut using George at 4 1/2 inches.  The white looked kind of bland so I recut the card base using deep pink on the back half of the cut.  This was mounted on the inside of the back half of the card.  The contrast seen on the front looked waaayyy better this way!

The digi image was from a set that I won over at Quirky Crafts Challenges a few weeks ago.  The digis were from The Stamping Boutique.  On second thought... this was one of four digis I had to pick from to put something together as a guest designer at Quirky Crafts Challenges.  My how my old brain can screw things up!  Anyway, I coloured the image with copics and keeping with the circular theme I used my huge scalloped punch to cut it out.
I think the longest part of the whole process was the bow.  I tried a bunch of different ribbons using a few different techniques and ended up with a simple one done with the 'Bow Easy'.  Not sure if I am happy with it yet but the green matched the patterned paper (IRL).

After adding a bit of baby pink Stickles to the tips of the tulips and adding a wee tag that says Mom and adding a pearl to it, I declared  I was done and that's all there is to it!  Oh, and I also stitched around the green circle prior to attaching it so you couldn't see the stitches on the inside.  It didn't turn out as planned because a single layer of paper, and especially being a circle, isn't fun to try!  The paper slid all over!

Here's a close up of it from the side so you can kind of see how I put it together...

So.. Here's the recipe!

Digi - The Stampin Boutique (Her digis are awesome!)
Sentiment inside.. Happy Mother's Day from Stampin' Up!
Paper - Textured white 12X12, Green patterned from K&Company, Pink from Recollections
Ink - Memento Black
Ribbon - WalMart
Cricut
Cricut Carts - Wild Card, George
Punches
Sewing Machine

Hope you have a wonderful evening and I'll be back soon!

Slider Card

Good Morning Chicks!

The CAS challenge at the Outlawz is to design an interactive card.  It took a while to think this up but.. I did it!

The slider card is put together like a present.  The flowers are made from punches and the flourish is done with a Tim Holtz die and thin cardboard which was painted with acrylic paint and then loaded with glitter.
The designer paper is called Manhatten and I picked that up from a discount bin for 25 cents a long time ago.  Ribbons are from WalMart and...

Outlawz Color Challenge - 03/13/2012

I finally have my entry for the Outlawz Color Challenge  The colors to be used this week are as follows along with a twist!:

I actually thought of this card during the wild storm and aftermath this past week.  It was soooo nice to be able to sit down and put something together again!

The stars were done with Sookwang tape and a Fiskars star punch along with opaque white glitter.  My sleeping teddy is a stamp that came with a bunch of odds and ends I purchased off of eBay one year ago.  I coloured him twice and layered the head and front paws for a dimensional effect.

The ribbon is from WalMart, the blue plaid paper is Stampin' Up! from my stash and I used a Martha Stewart star border punch.  The stitching is all uneven because I made the mistake of gluing the stars on before I zig-zagg'd around the edges.  Oops... better luck next time!  That little blue hand is actually a metal brad and the sentiment from Stamping Bella.

Here is a close up photo of the bear...

There you have it!  Thanks for looking and I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Sheree
